Adenovirus

Adenoviruses of which there are over 40 different [ serotypes ] in humans, are responsible for 5-10% of upper respiratory infections in children, and many infections in adults as well. Adenovirus is a leading cause of viral infection in children and has been implicated in a wide range of clinical diseases affecting mainly the respiratory, ocular, and gastrointestinal systems.

Adenovirus infections show up as conjunctivis, tonsilitis and pharyngoconjunctivis.
Some serotypes can cause gastroenteritis in infant.

Adenovirus infections are difficult to distinguish clinically from other viral or bacterial infections.
A rapidly and specific diagnosis can appropriacely treat for patients and prevent the spread of infections in community.
